Pacific Systems Interiors, Inc. (PSI) began its legacy in 1959 as a subcontractor specializing in electrical and luminous ceiling systems.  As the years progressed, we expanded our specializations to include drywall, acoustical ceilings, custom wall systems and specialty carpentry work.

 

To meet the needs of our customers, we expanded our capabilities to include demountable partitions, sound-proofing, doors, frames, and windows. The goal was to become the premier interior carpentry contractor in Southern California. During the 70s and 80s, PSI performed increasingly complex projects and built a strong reputation on project delivery working in clean rooms, aerospace, banking, healthcare, and data centers.

 

In 1995, we began providing project superintendents and other project support personnel to our clients. Being recognized as an expert in cost effective building systems applications, PSI became a valued resource to our clients by providing technical support and consultation on design/build projects.

 

PSI has completed significant projects in education, entertainment, finance, healthcare, high-tech, aerospace, hospitality, pharmaceutical/bio-med, public works, retail, telecommunications, and clean rooms (class 1 to 100,000), as well as other customer contract services. Over the past five years, PSI has completed contracts totaling over $125 million.

 

In 2009, PSI became a 100% employee owned company. Our corporate office is located in Gardena, with satellite offices located in Irwindale, Los Angeles, and Universal City.

DEDICATION TO SAFETY

It is without question that one of the most important aspects of running a successful construction company is safety. Pacific Systems Interiors has built a reputation for the highest level of safety in our industry. This fact is reflected in our Experience Modification Rate (EMR) which is currently .82, compared to an industry standard of 1.0.

 

PSI is able to maintain a low EMR based on our commitment to safety. In addition to having a strong corporate safety policy, we develop site-specific safety plans tailored to meet the needs of the specific project. We involve our subcontractors by requiring safety plans for their teams and vigorously enforcing those policies during the construction process. Jobsites are managed continuously by superintendents as well as our Safety Officer, whose primary responsibility is to ensure the safety of all job sites. The Safety Officer, who reports directly to the President, is empowered to make any changes he deems required.

  • Project Manager

    Provides overall management direction to multiple projects, establishes project objectives and policies, maintains liaison with prime client contracts, and monitors construction and financial activities through administrative direction of on-site construction team(s).

     

    Requisites

    • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
    • Working knowledge of construction-related computer software
    • 5 years construction management experience with successful completion of projects in excess of $5 million
    • Preferred: Experience in tenant improvement and core/shell construction

     

    Responsibilities

    • Develops and maintains professional working relationships with existing clients and assists in marketing efforts to acquire new clients and project opportunities
    • Prepare estimates with the Estimating Department and present professional proposals to clients
    • Creates, prepares, and maintains detailed project schedules.
    • Works with clients, architects, engineers, consultants, superintendents and foremen in all aspects of a project
    • Ensures that all jobs are inspected for quality and adherence to plans and specifications
    • Maintains awareness of job progress and ensures overall profitability for each project
    • Mentors and trains others for overall team development
  • Superintendent

    Oversees total on-site construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with the design, budget, and schedule. Supervises and coordinates self-performed and subcontracted work for overall contract compliance and quality.

     

    Requisites

    • Physically capable of regularly moving about a construction site including: climbing ladders and stairs, using tools, controls, and equipment, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crawling, and occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds unassisted. A full medical release must be obtained prior to employment.
    • High school graduate
    • Preferred: Advanced coursework or degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field
    • Completed apprenticeship program or equal
    • Two years experience as a foreman or superintendent
    • Preferred: Superintendent experience specific to commercial tenant improvement and core/shell construction
    • Working knowledge of basic computer programs

     

    Responsibilities

    • Ensures a clear understanding of all aspects of assigned projects and communications to project team regarding: drawings, specifications, schedules, material and supply budgets, subcontractor coordination, and client-driven rules and regulations
    • Works with client, architect, consultants, and foremen on all aspects of the project
    • Prepares and maintains detailed project schedules
    • Monitors daily labor and material demands
    • Responds to requests for changes in scope of work
    • Maintains a clean and safe jobsite, ensuring safety training as needed
    • Mentors and trains others for overall team development
  • Project Engineer

    Assists in overall management direction to multiple projects, establishes project objectives and policies, maintains liaison with prime client contracts, and monitors construction and financial activities under administrative direction of the project manager.

     

    Requisites

    • High school graduate
    • Preferred: Bachelors Degree or advanced coursework in a business-related discipline
    • Working knowledge of construction-related computer software
    • Preferred: Two years construction management experience
    • Preferred: Construction management experience specific to tenant improvement and core/shell construction

     

    Responsibilities

    • Prepares or assists the Estimating Department with estimates and proposals
    • Works with client, architect, consultants, and foremen on all aspects of the project
    • Prepares and maintains detailed project schedules
    • Prepares a construction package for the General Superintendent and ensures that superintendent(s) and foremen have a thorough understanding of the project
    • Ensures that plan checks and permits are secured
    • Prepares RFI's and submittals and maintains logs
    • Prepares change estimates and tracks client approvals
    • Oversees proper completion of daily job logs and as-built records.
    • Prepares all closeout documentation
  • Project Assistant

    Assists in overall management direction to multiple projects, establishes project objectives and policies, maintains liaison with prime client contracts, and monitors construction and financial activities under administrative direction of the project manager.

     

    Requisites

    • High school graduate
    • Preferred: Bachelors Degree or advanced coursework in a business-related discipline
    • Training and working knowledge of basic computer programs
    • Preferred: Two years construction management experience
    • Preferred: Construction management experience specific to tenant improvement and core/shell construction

     

    Responsibilities

    • Assists project manager or estimator prepare bid packages and proposals (phone calls, emails, copies, and shipping as needed)
    • Issues subcontracts, purchase orders, and change orders
    • Follows-up with vendors, subcontractors, and clients to ensure approval and return of all project documentation
    • Maintains records including: invoicing, filing, and taking meeting minutes
    • Uses accounting software to run reports, resolve job costs issues, and perform miscellaneous project research
    • Provides assistance to project managers, project engineers, and superintendents for submittals and job closeout documentation
    • Provides assistance to company officers on business development and modifying marketing material
  • Estimator

    Assists the estimating staff and project managers using the latest versions of computer and estimating software, provides backup and support for field operations on multiple projects, and processes project change orders and field work orders.

     

    Requisites

    • Required: High school graduate
    • Preferred: Bachelors Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction  Management, or related field
    • Preferred: Work experience in commercial construction
    • Required: Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
    • Preferred: Working knowledge of On-Screen Takeoff and Quick Bid

     

    Responsibilities

    • Support the chief and senior estimators, project managers, and field operations
    • Review, distribute, and track project documents, including: specifications,  drawings, addenda, and RFIs
    • Perform electronic takeoffs and pricing using On-Screen Takeoff and Quick Bid
    • Review estimates with others, including: quantity takeoffs, material pricing, and production rates
    • Produce labor and material breakdowns for field operations
    • Estimate and process project change orders and field work orders
